Project Overview
Engaged directly by the City of Casey, Native Space undertook the reconstruction of Max Pawsey Reserve playground and car park. The works involved the complete removal of the existing car park, playground, and redundant underground infrastructure, followed by the construction of a new 74-space car park with upgraded stormwater systems and a contemporary playground designed to enhance community use and accessibility. The new recreational space features modern play equipment, a water play area, a basketball half-court, and supporting amenities including a BBQ area and sheltered seating, creating a safe and engaging environment that improves functionality and overall access to the reserve. Key challenges included identifying and managing unknown underground services, maintaining safe public access, minimising disruption to the Footy Club and Scout Hall, and addressing drainage and ground conditions, all while meeting safety, environmental, and accessibility requirements.
